*headdesk* (take ten)
I went to bed about four-thirty last night after finishing a scene that I really liked (even if it was also very rough), woke up late for 1st day back to school, somehow got daughter/husband there on time, drove sister to work…and was stopped because my brake light was out.
While stopped, I learned that my license has been suspended for the past year. (Because last year, I’d been pulled over for having a missing headlight, and found out that my license had expired when I turned 30. Then I forgot about the court date, and sent in the money, but apparently even though you get a receipt/clear from the courts, you’re supposed to take that in to the DMV so that they can reinstate your license. Whoops.)
Went to DMV, was reinstated as a legal driver.
Now, 9:30, I’m back home and about to start writing again.

Wow that is a pretty rough start to the new year, i’m glad it worked out.
Hmm, I think you need Calgon to take you away, LOL. Hope the rest of your Monday is better!
WOW! What a Monday morning! And I thought I was having a rough one. It was NOTHING compared to yours!
I hope you have a good rest of the day and a fabulous week!
Coulda been worse. I kept expecting you to say “And when I got home, I couldn’t find the scene!”
I gotta say that I’m feeling better about my own *head desk* moments right about now…
*innocence*
Bad Girl, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?
Heh, thanks everyone. Actually it wasn’t as bad as it could have been — the officer who stopped me could have a) ticketed me, b) prevented me from going anywhere, considering that I technically didn’t have a license (despite the pretty little plastic thing I had). But instead he said, “I’m going to drive away — and wait until I’m gone before you head off to the DMV, so that I don’t see you driving.”
So I’m not out $300 for the fine, or stuck at the mall where my sister works, trying to figure out how to get home … and then go pick up my daughter from kindergarten. That was very, very, very good.
It’s nice that there are some cops out there like that. The cop that pulled me over 8 years ago must have either been having a really bad day or just been a jerk in general because he turned a small speeding ticket into a huge ordeal because the brake light was out, which my parents had just found out the night before and didn’t have time to fix before I took their car to get to my classes the next morning.
I’m glad that worked out. Nice cop! But look at the best part — which is you didn’t have an accident that triggered an insurance claim because I think you’d have been totally hosed then for not having a valid license. So, in fact, you were really really lucky all during 2008.
And, hey, are you saying you went to bed at 4:30 am and got, like, no sleep whatever (hey! you went to bed shortly after I got up!) or that you went to bed at 4:30pm and got to sleep for hours and hours? In which case I’m just jealous.
4:30 am. With this book, post-3am has become my regular bedtime.
That happened to me last year. Apparently the money I sent in for a speeding ticket 3 years ago never made it so they suspended my license. Only I had no idea. Until my cop fiance went to add me to his insurance and our agent told him my license was suspended..and had been for over a year. Niiice.
Needless to say MM wasn’t very happy with me. And I wasn’t very happy $460 later.
Glad he let you off, though.
