I didn’t expect to fall in love today…
but I did. Angiegirl at Angieville has a poem up, “Taking off Emily Dickinson’s Clothes” by Billy Collins that first seduced me, then pretty much killed me. Head on over and see.

It was beautiful!! The prose was so sweet, visual, breath taking!
Oh, good. I had an ache in my chest for about an hour after reading it. I love Dickinson, and re-read a ton of her work last year … but this had me reaching for the collection I have again, for my favorites as well as the ones referenced by Collins. Because that is exactly the way I’ve felt with her before — just stripped away, and then that sigh because her work is so perfect. And then to have it captured so perfectly? A weird meta-perfection.
