@Jeaniene Frost: ah! Thanks for the clarification. I know they have a strong romance component (my favorite part of the series, lol) but for some reason I thought they were under the urban fantasy umbrella rather than the romance umbrella (although the line is so thin, it's difficult to tell.)

I was glad to see your cover in the two-cover section. I'm a fan of the cover anyway, and it was a nice break from the sheets :-)

"It says romance novel covers, but since women’s fiction with romantic elements like Kristin Hannah’s FIREFLY LANE was a finalist this year, along with Jeaniene Frost’s AT GRAVE’S END (urban fantasy with romantic elements) it looks like it actually just has to have a romantic element to be eligible."

Actually, I'm pubbed by a romance house (Avon), my books are shelved in romance, and I consider them romance with urban fantasy elements, not urban fantasy with romance elements :). So the contest truly might be limited to romance books (though I don't know anything about Kristin's book, so maybe hers aren't shelved in romance).

I read this as an ARC so didn't see the cover till after - and honestly, knowing the story, pretty as it is the cover is misleading in a rather important way that becomes clear on reading the story. But no matter - the story is spectacular, with a whole slew of edgy relationships I can't wait to find out what happens to (hows that for torturous sentence structure) when the second volume comes out. Wildly creative in change of POV from volume to volume.

@Maya M.: Oh oh! I have DARKBORN to-be-read (I couldn't resist the cover & description) but I haven't read it yet. These are all just for books that I feel have really great covers for one reason or another.

I'm so thrilled you loved 'Darkborn'. I flat out adored it, and have been trying to convince everyone I know to not only read it but create buzz.
On that basis I'll have to go look at the other titles on your list....

Cool idea. I voted at Cover Cafe but did feel that there was something lacking in the selections. I like your tags for this blog.
