Tagged! and mailouts

I’m mailing out the contest winners’ books today — unless you are international, then I’ll be going back to the post office on Monday. Congrats again to everyone who entered!

I’ve also been tagged by Lara Adrian. *shakes fist* This meme is to describe five crazy things about myself. It was surprisingly hard to come up with five. I’m well-adjusted. Totally.

Crazy #1: I wrote all of Colin’s POV scenes in DEMON MOON using British spelling that I learned from Harlequins while growing up (I always had a lot of red marks on my papers because I read so many of them, the spelling sunk into my brain). Part of it was to help me focus on his voice and diction that much more. Part of it was just because it was fun. I did remember to change most of the spelling back to American before sending in the manuscript … but not all of it. There’s a kerb lurking in there, a few colours and flavours, and a grey or two. (Actually, I still automatically spell gray, grey. That’s one I’ve never dropped.)

Crazy #2: Missy.

Crazy #3: You know when you eat popcorn and a little bit of a kernel gets in your teeth and no matter how much you push at it with your tongue and brush your teeth and floss you can’t seem to get it out and then you have to take a toothpick and poke at it and it hurts because your gum is a little swollen by then, but you still have to poke and poke? I LOVE THAT PAIN. I don’t really like popcorn, though.

Crazy #4: I buy presents for my characters, and then cry when I get to the cash register and realize my characters aren’t real. HAHA! Just kidding. Although it’s true that after I researched a bunch of music and decided one of my characters listened to The Clash I bought some of their albums so that I could have a “feel” for what he was listening to and the lyrics — and I became a huge fan myself. I guess he just had really good taste.

Crazy #5: On Monday, I’m sending my book to Mrs. Giggles.

Number 5 is definitely the craziest. :boggle:

Number 4 can’t be that crazy. I’ve done that too.

Number 5 is either a really brave thing to do or a crazy thing.

You mean I’m supposed to spell grey with an ‘a’? lol Well geez….

And I can’t spell ‘realise’ with a ‘z’. It looks so wrong.

**spew!**

You mean you don’t wrap up presents for your characters and give them to them on their birthdays?

What a meanie you are. Meanie meanie meanie.

You got me with number 4 – my eyes bugged right out of my head – well done ;) Course, what author would now admit to buying gifts for their characters?

Mrs. Giggles is a right of passage and is never a bad thing. Even when it seems like a bad thing ;)

Suisan did a whole post on grey vs gray. I’m Canadian and am purpertually stuck between how I’m supposed to spell something and the American way of spelling ;)

Hey, she did it! :)

1. Cool! What a great idea! And fwiw, I write grey vs gray, too. Although I’ve quit doing it in my mss because the copyeditor always changes it anyway.

2. Yeah, I’ve seen her around…scary, Meljean. Scar-y.

3, 4, and 5. I really don’t know what to say. But I’m calling the guys in the white coats as soon as I finish typing this post!

but you still have to poke and poke? I LOVE THAT PAIN.

OMG, I’m not alone? I love how you have to work at it with the tip of your tongue and it twinges, and then when you can finally catch it with your fingernail and it’s that little sliding pain. So makes me want popcorn right now.
