The real reason that I hate spam.

It’s not just that spam is really dumb, that they try to trick all of the spamguards with bad spelling “pr0n girrl suxors c*och!” and subjects like “Hi! I got your message!” because I never fall for them anyway (because I don’t send messages to people I don’t know.)

No. It’s the disappointment.

When I get a notification of a new e-mail in my inbox, a little window pops up from Mozilla Thunderbird and it’s a pretty white box ringed by blue and it says: 1 new message (sometimes more, and that’s like heaven.) And I think: OMG, SOMEONE CARES ENOUGH TO TALK TO ME! And for one instant, I’m not alone in my little computer hole, or I have an excuse to procrastinate.

And then I realize it’s just someone that wants to increase the size of my penis. *sob*

Spam rips a hole in my heart.

And I’m totally adding this song to my DEMON NIGHT soundtrack.

Are you serious or joking?
I never got the Janis Joplin thing..:???:
What was the appeal?

LOLOLOL This happened to me on MSN. I was chatting one day and noticed there were TWO emails for me in my hotmail account. I hadn’t even activated it yet, but obviously someone NEEDED to talk to me. I went through all the trouble of activating it (and believe me it was trouble..it was MSN), and it was just spam. Just Penis enlargers. I wonder if anyone has ever fallen for it. Because they just don’t give up!

Eileen — hee, serious, but upped to the nth degree  As for Janis, I really like that she’s COMPLETELY into her music … and that she’s completely effed up, but in an honest way. I’ll admit I’m not a massive fan (I don’t know all of her music or own all of her albums) but I do really, really admire her.

Melanie — hot damn! I’m so glad I’m not the only one :joker:

I love that song and I also love the ‘Billy’ song by her. I agree with her being so in to her music and wow, effed up for real. I do so love those creative types ;)

I think we’re all addicted to e-mail. At least, I am so no, you’re far from alone!

Meljean, I’d never really thought about those things before, but you’re absolutely right, I always found her sound a bit, obnoxious sounding, but when you look at it from that perspective, it kind of shines a whole new light on her.. thanks for that..

Eileen — oh, I definitely think that her voice is grating, but after a while she just got under my skin, so I can enjoy her when I do hear her now.

Cindy — really, really creative types kind of freak me out *g* they seem to exist on a different level than anyone else. It’s appealing and freaky to me at the same time.

 I knew procrastination played into this somewhere.

And I think: OMG, SOMEONE CARES ENOUGH TO TALK TO ME! And for one instant, I’m not alone in my little computer hole, or I have an excuse to procrastinate.

BTW, got my book… thank you!

Oh man, I hear you on this. I’m on a mailing list for a Con I’m presenting at, and apparently ‘reply’ and ‘reply all’ are hard concepts. The people are super nice and all, but I get that same frustrated feeling when I see I have a new message–that has nothing to do with me.

Shiloh — woot! You’re welcome! (And it’s total procrastination *g*)

Richelle — yes yes! I ended up going “no mail” on a lot of loops and mbs that I used to visit, because I’d spend way too much time seeing what the “new” message was about even though it had nothing to do with me. So I was reading messages I wouldnt’ have otherwise. Disappointing, and a time-waster.
