I always wanted to be on one of those ponies…

when they rode off into the sunset.

(For those who can’t see, this is from Free to Be, You and Me)

Ah, nostalgia. Although, this actually reminds me most of getting my hair checked for lice, because the school counselor was the one who showed us these films, and the head nurse always lined us up outside the counselor’s office.

Good times. Lice and kids on a freak carousel.

I was traumatized early about carousels. I forget the show, but it had a girl advertising for her amusement park after it closed years ago by making her boyfriend ride a carousel for twenty four hours non-stop. A snake was inside the horse, bit the boyfriend, and he died.

So, any inanimate equistrian statues I make a point to stay away from.

Carousels actually remind me of SILVER BULLET, that movie based on CYCLE OF THE WEREWOLF by Stephen King. That movie freaked me out like crazy.

I am so glad that we had some of the same upbringing. You remind me of things that I have no time to look for. I was telling my oldest daughter about this the other day, when she caught me singing this tune… I is amazing the things you write about, you have no idea that quite often they are things that I just discussed with my own kids. We must have some kind of a connection somewhere.
