Two final Guardian books
I think the announcement was made in PW today, so I’ll put it here, too: I’ve sold the final two books in the Guardian series, which will be DEMON MARKED, coming in August 2011, and Michael’s book, scheduled for 2012 (date and title TBA).
I’m super-pleased to be working with Cindy Hwang at Berkley again, and to be perfectly frank, it’s a minor miracle that I’ve been offered the opportunity to complete the series — so I want to say a huge THANK YOU! to everyone who has supported the series along the way, who has read the books and said a kind word to other readers about them. I’ll do my damn best to make sure it ends as it should, with two fabulous books (and one novella!) to rock your socks off.

(Also, I have two different feeds coming off my blog, and one is delayed for some reason by about 1-2 days. Please update your feed reader to http://meljeanbrook.com/feed and it should post timely.)

Congratulations x10000! I will be sorry to see it end but so excited to excited to read the last two books! (And novellas. And everything & anything else!)
I’m going to have to second Bree. Hate to see it end, but I’m happy you get to finish the story on your terms. I LOVE these books. Okay, the three I’ve read, but still. : ) lol
I may be in the minority to say this, but I like to see series end after a good run. It’s more satisfying to have a big finish than a neverending trickle. And I will of course be reading anything else you write.
On a related note, Michael’s getting a book?! Yay! *chair dance*
Thank you!
I did always intend to end it at eight books, so this is exactly where I’d hoped to be. There’s always the fear that low sales will mean a series is ended early; I’m thanking my lucky stars that I’ll be able to see it through to the finish.
Yay!!! But . . . .2012 for Michael’s book? Well, now i have a reason to keep living.
Congrats, Meljean
YAY!!!!! Congraties!! But you know, I never doubted a single second.
Congrats! What a fun, wild trip it has been reading the incredible world you have created.
I will hold off in squeeing too hard over Michael
Congratulations, Meljean! You know I can’t wait to read those books!
congrats, Meljean…!!!
Congrats, Meljean!!
Yay!!! I think I’ve read the series through 3x already and of course the release of Demon Blood will probably trigger another re-read…
These are fabulous, deeply satisfying books, working for me on so many levels…
Congrats and I’m so excited for you, but I have to admit, I’m a bit teary eyed that I’m going to have to say goodbye to this amazing series so soon. Thank you for sharing the Guardian world with us!
Congratulations, Meljean! Michael’s book is by far the one I’m most anticipating for the next couple of years. I’ll be sad to see the series end, but it’ll be good to get a grand, grand finale!
Congrats on getting to finish the series the way you want! Like lots of others, I’ll be sad to see it end. At least I have your new series to look forward to.
Congrats! It’s so good to hear you’ll be able to tell the whole story
They are the greatest hate to see them end
But I am sure you have something else planed for us to
keep us on the edge of are seats.
Congrats
I’m such a big fan of your work. Your so awesome and Demon Blood sound like its going to be fantastic. I’m so excited, I just love your Guardian books series.
Congratulations, Meljean! Utterly well deserved – I can’t wait to read them.
@meljean: Low sales? Truly? But you’ve been getting better with each book in the pacing and the character interactions and with revealing the overarching plot!
To me it reads like well-plotted superhero manga based on mythology centred around romantic couples… sort of Basara with more concentration on romance.
I sure hope your sales will get stronger or at least rise over the long tail of time. They could start doing omnibus editions of the series….
Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS on the book deals!
i’ll join the chorus! Congratulations! (and a huge sigh of relief from here – one of my abiding fears is the series that is Never Finished…)
i must come out of lurkerdom to say/screech: squeeee!! i love the series. i’m thrilled we’ll be getting michael’s story.
Meljean – like everyone else, I’m sorry it will end so soon, but pleased that you get to end the series as you planned. I also hate the never-ending-series so I’m actually very excited that I will get closure on these great characters and plot-lines.
Since I don’t post often I just want to add that I absolutely love your series, your voice, your heroines and mythology… and I’m super excited about what you’ll do next.
