Happy Birthday to me, books for you!
So, on Friday I hit the big ol’ Three-Three. I’m not really much of a birthday person, and I don’t celebrate much, but that doesn’t mean that no one will receive presents!
Until midnight (Pacific time) on August 6, I’m leaving the comments open. If you comment and tell me which book from my backlist you’d like, I’ll randomly pick 5 winners and post their names here on Saturday.
Here are the books to choose from (I don’t have any copies of THE IRON DUKE yet! — I’ll probably have an ARC contest next week, though.) You can click on any cover to find out more.

And even though you might advise newcomers to the Guardian series to skip to Demon Night, I don’t know if I would love the series so much if I hadn’t read Demon Angel. There is something about that novel that leaves me breathless. So, to anyone out there, whether you start at the beginning or with Demon Night, you *HAVE* to read Demon Angel some day. You just have to. Otherwise you’ll seriously be missing out on something incredible.

I really liked Demon Angel, more than I expected (sometimes starting with a short story isn’t ideal), and Demon Moon is on my TBR pile (well, it’s over there *points*). So I’d like Demon Night. And maybe I’ll jump right in and catch up.
I have some of the short stories collections.
@Allyse: Thank you! I love it, too — but it definitely is one of those books that either readers liked it, or they really, really didn’t
But even readers who didn’t like it have reported that they’ve been able to get into Drifter’s book. Demon Night seems to be a little more accessible on a worldbuilding level, and on a character level as well, even though (or perhaps because) it’s not nearly as epic in scope. So I wonder if it’s easier, maybe, to go *back* to Demon Angel after reading the others? I’m not sure.

I understand where you’re coming from. I agree, after reading Demon Night (Can not tell you how I adore Drifter) I did grasp the world a little better. And then Demon Bound…. oh my gosh. Jake. Sigh.

The one book I’ve read of yours so far is Must Love Hellhounds. I got it for Nalini Singh’s story and then read the rest of the book as well. Really enjoyed the whole thing and it intro’d me to your writing. I need to read myself another i think now. I think I’d like to try Burning UP! Love anthology books.

I would love a copy of Burning Up – the only book I haven’t had time to go buy immediately. I started reading these books right after the publication of Demon Moon, which is my favorite in the series, so if for some reason you do need to skip ahead, make time to read the first two in the series – absolutely worth it!

I can see how some might be able to get into the series more to understand the worldbuilding by starting with Demon Night, and definitely recommend they read those first 2 books still. Demon Moon is one of my series favorites. For me, I appreciated the complexity of the worldbuilding and not having everything obviously spelled out or repeated, figuring out things as I read along. Definitely not a series to breeze through easily with a fairly simple plot as to who’s who and what’s going, assuming the reader will see things more clearly as they read along, and I appreciated that. There are times I want a simple, quicker read, and others I want to have to pay attention more and enjoy a more complex story.

My father has started the practice of birthday month so that his family will treat him special the entire month. He also sings Happy Birthday to himself for the first few days of his birthday month to go into the mood.
