Paula Cole has a question.

Wild Wild WestAnd Charlene Teglia answers it very nicely: they’re in Wild Wild West.

I’ve really got nothing to add to the review at Dear Author. These were all yum. Oh, and I love the cover, too.

I’ve said this before, but I’ll do it again: novellas are lifesavers for me when I’m writing, or when I’m dying for something to read, but don’t have a lot of time. Less than an hour to zip through one, and I get a full story — and I don’t grit my teeth when I put it down, not knowing when I’ll be able to pick it up again, and lose the momentum that I find so necessary in a full length novel.

I hate putting a book down (unless I’m hating the book). These, there was definitely no hate. And they fit just right.

There are more cowboys here. Oh, and here. And here. And here. And, oh my gosh [shameless plug] some guy named Drifter [/shameless plug] (and this song was on my Demon Night writing soundtrack … and my daughter knows it by heart now. I feel bad when she sings, “I’ll go wash the dishes while you go have a beer.” I think I’m probably a bad mother.) I should probably start playing this for her instead …

…so that in twenty years she isn’t playing this:

LOL uhh…. I’m don’t think you’re corrupting your daughter that badly with Paula Cole’s song. I’m thinking in 20 years she’ll end up singing something sorta in between Mr. T and Eminem. That’s what I’m hoping for with my girls, anyway… something like ‘Mama’ by the Spice Girls? ok ok … sorry … it’s all I could come up with!

I’m with Christine, it could be worse. When my cousin was six, he used to sing along to my uncle’s Eric Clapton records. Fortunately my uncle managed to convince him the song was really about LO MEIN, not COCAINE.

What is it with you and cowboys????
Did you have a fetish for the Marboro Man when you were a kid?

I was sure the second video was a snippet from Mr. T’s children’s cartoon show(which is awful in a hi-LARI-ous way), and that the last video was the beginning of a Resident Evil sequence(which is awful in a gory zombie way, which means it’s very good).

So, I’ve learned:

Cowboys > children’s educational show starring Mr. T > mother-bashing.

It’s math working in real time.

katiebabs you say that like it is a bad thing…

oh no Sybil.. I keep thinking “ride em cowboy!” Instead of the LURVE train it can be ride a cowboy instead… mind way in gutter.

Awwww. You read Wild Wild West and said it’s the answer to Paula Cole’s song. I feel so cool.

You ARE cool, Charlene :-D It was a great read.

Christine — I sure hope I’m not, lol!

jepad — LOL! lo mein?? poor kid — he’s going to think he’s so cool some day, when he’s singing along in a car with his girlfriend, but she’s going to look at him and be all: why are you messing up this classic song? And he’ll cry. Poor cousin.

katiebabs — the funny thing is, I don’t really have a thing for cowboys. Or, I didn’t until very recently. I’m sure it’ll pass, though. Next, it’ll be a thing for conflicted soldiers who were killed in Vietnam.

L. Francesca — I love me some Resident Evil, and now that you mention it, the church looks EXACTLY like the church from RE: Apocalypse. This one is actually from Eminem’s Cleaning out the Closet … but I think the math still works *g*

sybil — yeah, she does! :-D

katiebabs — ooooh. yeah, the riding part is all good. so is the mind in gutter part.

Charlene — again, fantastic book.
