The Fab Five of Feb 5
On February 5, Demon Night — the fifth book in my Guardian series, featuring Drifter, an outlaw from the Old West turned hero, and the woman he has to protect from vampires — is going to be in stores.
But I’m not the only one with a release this February 5th — Joey Hill has a fantastic follow-up to The Vampire Queen’s Servant; Jaci Burton has penned a freaking hot introduction to her Wild Riders series; Nalini Singh has written another fabulous entry to her amazing Psy-Changeling universe; and Dakota Cassidy offers a funny, sexy first installment in her sure-to-be-a-winner Accidental series.
So we all thought it would be fun to ask each other a few questions, give readers an opportunity to get to know us a little better, maybe find a new favorite, and win some fabulous prizes. And when five authors get together for a round robin of questions and answers, anything can happen … and readers will win.
I’ll be giving away signed copies of Demon Angel and Demon Moon (unless you already own them, and then we’ll see if there’s another book you’d like 
) on this blog, and the other ladies are offering their own fabulous prizes, including books and gift certificates. Each of us has a question on our blog that each author has answered. Here, the question is:
If you could pick one character from your books and spend the day with him/her/it (with no spousal guilt, depending on the activity!) what would you do?
Jaci Burton, author of Riding Wild:
Mac from Riding Wild. He has a Harley. And a gun. And he’s damn sexy. I think we’d have to take a backroads journey into the hills, maybe to the lake. Rest a little. Maybe get lost. Heh.
Dakota Cassidy, author of The Accidental Werewolf:
Hands down it’d be Nina from Accidentally Dead. She’s has no filter from brain to mouth–she calls it as she sees it. Not to mention she uses the word “fucktard” liberally and without shame.
Joey Hill, author of The Mark of the Vampire Queen:
When I think about what I’d like heaven to be, after the obvious reunion with loved ones, I have this dream of being able to walk into my fiction worlds and hang out for the day with my characters whenever I wish. Very first thing, I’d probably go to Tyler and Marguerite’s BDSM carnival party and hope the rest of the Nature of Desire crowd were there so I could spend the day with all of them. Not just for the obvious exciting stuff. I imagine hanging out with them, the way they were hanging out in the wee hours of the morning after Marguerite and Tyler’s wedding. Just picking on each other and being relaxed in the company of friends. Mac would let me take a swig of his beer. Justin and I would talk about Wicca. I’d grill Sara, Mac and Violet on police stuff as research for my next book (hey, isn’t there a heaven library of yet-to-be-published-in-the-earthly-realm books?) I might be too shy to talk much to Marguerite and Tyler, but it would be wonderful to watch them interact with the others, and of course with each other.
Nalini Singh, author of Mine to Possess:
This is an incredibly hard question. I choose one, then I think, nooooo, I want that person, then the cycle repeats. So here’s my answer – I’d throw a party, invite all my characters, then climb a tree from where I could see everything. Can you imagine the fireworks?!
My partners in crime would be Julian and Roman, the twin leopard-changeling cubs first introduced in Slave to Sensation. Not only do they have a degree in mischief, they know how to steal the best cake and they have very big ears so I could totally listen in to all the conversations.
Meljean Brook, author of Demon Night:
Colin from Demon Moon. He’s wickedly funny, has a great sense of style, and droolingly gorgeous. I’d happily spend an entire day just looking at him, but I think we’d probably grab an old horror movie or two, then I’d watch him paint for a while, then I’d watch him slice a rogue vampire to ribbons with his swords, then ask him if he thought Byron was handsome just to prick his vanity. But I’d have to say no to anything in the bedroom, because then I’d forget all about my fabulous day (and because Savi would kick my ass).

I would choose Lisa Kleypas’ Cam Rohan. He is so exotic. I would love to go to St. Vincent’s club and watch the activity from on the balcony and then retire to one of the rooms for some afternoon delight.

I’d say Hugh, but seriously I think Lilith would be after me. There are so many male characters I’d love to spend the day with *g* but I don’t know if I could part with them after only a day, so I’ll pick a girl to hang out with.
I’d love to hang with Lilith for a day. Seriously – she’s kick-a$$. I wish I could be more eloquent, but she’s just so damn cool and I’d be mentally taking notes all day.
So there you have it – if it were for just one day I’d pass up Hugh, Nalini’s Dorian, Kenyon’s Acheron, and Ward’s Blaylock to hang with her and hopefully cause a bit of trouble

I’d want to spend a day with Ben from Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson series.
Sure, in the first two books, he seems like a total asshole (and possibly a raper too!) but after reading Iron Kissed, he’s definitely one of my favorites characters now and I’m sure we would cause a lot of trouble while having lots of fun! *g*
I’d want Ranger from the Stephanie Plum books to be with me. OOOHH- what a hottie! I’ve got a vivid imagination on what we could do together.
I would choose Rhage from Lover Eternal in the J. R. Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood series. There is something about him that makes me take notice.
Oh, hell, I’ll take Acheron so he doesn’t feel neglected. If for some reason he’s unavailable (i.e. detained by the red-headed cow), I’d have a blast with Simi.
I’m thinking one of Michele Bardsley’s hot leading men from her Broken Heart, OK series. I mean who wouldn’t want to be wooed by an Irishman who has looks to boot? Gaelic sounds soo cool!

I’d pick Mary Janice Davidson’s Betsy, a day with her would crack me up and staying in her wild house for the day would be memorable.
Cool question! I’d have to say Bond … James Bond. We’d play baccarat, save the world, and drink martinis, of course.
Sienna from Ms. Nalini Singh because she young, she smart-total kick***, and somehow, I think she and I would get along. ^_^ Plus, two young women, a day together; it just spells a whole lot of fun. :bmww:
I would have to say Iain MacLean from The Secret – Julie Garwood. Love those highlanders.
Roarke from the In Death books. Come on – he’s amazingly beautiful, a mega billionaire and lives in the FUTURE. (Auto-chefs=no cooking for me!) I’d make him take me all over the world. The Pyramids, Niagara Falls, Great Wall of China, here I come! I hate flying but if Roarke was holding my hand, I think I could bear it.
I would love to spend the day with Benjamin from CJ England’s Peacekeeper Journals series.
I would love to spend the day with Rincewind from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series. Him or Shotgun Suzy from Simon R. Green. They are both awesome.

select just one! Like Nalini, I’d have to invite several (but on an individual basis for me) to share dinner with me. I like to know
what makes people who they are thus lively, and in depth, conversation would be our focus.

Okies, I’d have to say Talon from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s dark-hunter books. I’d be staring at him most of the time but I would get him to teach me how to speak his native language.
OH.. what a difficult question.
I’d have to pick Brie from Whispering Rock by Robyn Carr. I figure Brie would want to hang out at the center of Virgin River and I’d get to see more of the characters from Robyn’s Virgin River series.
That and I think she is a wonderfully strong character and I’d love to be with her.
Cabal (of the Feline Breed series written by Lora Leigh) – his vulnerability and strength glimpsed in “Tanner’s Scheme” when his twin, Tanner, found his life-mate, just made my heart ache. I’d spend time with him, go kick some bad guy butt, get to know him – sigh.
I’d choose Nikolaus Drake from Kiss Me Deadly by Michele Hauf.
I would choose Roarke from J. D. Robb´s “In Death series”. He is described as being just drop dead gorgeous, and interesting, too. he also happens to love books
I suppose I´d ask him to show me his favourite places, you never know where that can lead
My first though was Harry Potter. Spending a day in the wizarding world would be awesome.
I would love spending the day with Arsene Lupin (books by Maurice Leblanc), and trying to pry the secret of his childhood out of him. He’s the first Gentleman Thief I ‘met’ through my reading, and I’ve had a soft spot for him for over thirty years!

It would have to be Gandalf of LOTR – I admire his wisdom, gentleness and never-misapplied power, and I love how well he was portrayed by Ian McKellan in the film version. I would just sit with him by a bubbling creek or in deep in the forest and just listen to him talk about how to live life well and with dignity

Very fun! I think the guy I’d want to spend a day with, would be Lorenzo “Ren” Gage, from Breathing Room by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. He’s charming, fun, a major Hollywood star… and a great guy. It doesn’t get much better

* Nathaniel from the Anita Blake series (Hamilton) – who wouldn’t want him to be with him if only for a little bit. He’s sexy as hell and as sweet as can be. He doesn’t mind cooking or cleaning and he just wants everyone to be happy.
* Jamie Fraser from the Outlander series (Gabaldon) – I don’t care what he said, just as long as he talked. He could just read a story and I would be happy.
* Jim from the Aisling Grey series (MacAlister) – It wouldn’t be a dull or quiet lunch with him around.

Only one? Allegreto, the hero(?) in Laura Kinsale’s in Shadowheart. To know him best, read For My Lady’s Heart first, then Allegreto’s story in Shadowheart. I could really go that route. Whew!!!

Wow, no guilt, huh……………….I think it would be fun to hang out with Sookie Stackhouse from Charlaine Harris’s book series — she meets the most interesting beings. But to be with someone with no guilty feelings I would be torn between Quinn from Keri Arthur’s books or Eric from Charlaine Harris’ books — my current sexy vampires.
Roarke always makes my list. To share that intensity that he has with Eve, plus his intelligence is so sexy and his ability to satisfy my every wish (since he’s the richest man around) would make for a fantastic experience.

This is a tough question! I am alternately thinking of characters and rejecting them, and failing to dig deep enough into my brain to come up with the perfect choice. I can only think to go generic without making my brain explode – stress on top of a huge sinus headache – hey, it could happen! Alpha male, Dom, with some variety of psychic powers, and a deep toybox in the corner of his ~workspace~

Just one? Ummm – so hard to choose. I’ll have to say it’s a total toss up between Lilith from Meljean’s series and spending the day with Regin from Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series. First – I just love Lilith’s attitude! I’d probably spend the day running from Sir Pup but after that maybe we’d checking out the inner workings of SI cuz I KNOW she ain’t letting me anywhere near Hugh! Wench!
Regin – another girl with an attitude but I just can’t seem to get enough of her twisted humor. We’d just hang out watching movies and throwing popcorn at people who walked in front of the TV!
I don’t think that I can choose just one, I think that if I could spend the day in the universe of fiction I would spend it in Christine Warren’s Other series, at the club Vircolac. An exclusive club run by and for other’s, were’s vamps, fae, demon’s (the good kind). Yummy, yummy, werewolves!
Assuming no spousal interference, right? (‘Cause if I’m getting to spend time with a fictional character, theoretically I can exercise that power on his behalf and get him a day with Faith from Buffy the V.S. also.) I’d go with Suzanne Brockmann’s Wild Card or Karen Marie Moning’s Cian…..and I’d jump their bones.

Hello Meljean, and congrats on your upcoming novel. Now onto the question at hand…hmmmm. I have so many books that I love but the one that keeps me coming back is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, so I would love to come back as Bella. No matter how banged up I would get for she is so accident prone, LOL. I want to know how it feels to be in love with two so very different men…eeehhmmmm…well one being a Vampire(EDWARD) and the other a Warewolf(JACOB).
