I’ve lost HIGH NOON
How? It’s not like my apartment is all that huge. And the cover is bright orange. WTF? I’m at a freaking good part, too! Grr.
I’ve also lost Magic Bites and Magic Burns, which makes me grr! because I want to quote a few things out of them. Again I ask How could they be missing, considering the glowing pink goo? (But I think that my sister lent them to someone at work and just won’t admit it/forgot it. I tell her that to lose one book may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness. *)
The piles of laundry might have something to do with it, though. *shifty eyes*
The good news is that while I was reading High Noon last night, I realized why my opening scene in the untitled-upcoming-book proposal sucked so bad. (Although it jumped into action, it didn’t jump into the main conflict (or introduce enough of it.)) And I think I have come up with a way to fix it.
Finished recently:
<— Enjoyed, and will say more later.
—> Did not enjoy as much, although I didn’t dislike it. It was one of those books that I really like some aspects of it, but not others. And I probably will not say more later.

I can’t wait for Darkest Pleasure! *jealous and pouting a little bit* Reyes!
I am usually a Greg Iles fan too, but I didn’t enjoy True Evil. Is Blood Memory his newest one?
I hate it when I lose a book I’m currently reading….mine get lost in the car alot…ahem…not because my car needs to be cleaned out or anything…nope. not that.
Kim — this was my first Greg Iles, so I’m not sure if it’s his most recent. It was a paperback, so I’m guessing it has been out at least a year. (Aha! it was published in 2005).
Judging by some of the reviews I’ve read since I’ve finished it, it seems that his books are more successful (at least for readers) when his protagonist is a male. I didn’t mind the female voice he had, and really enjoyed how messed up she was … but there were a few sexual things I thought were glossed over in a way that didn’t ring true to me. And the heart of the personal mystery (there’s a serial killer plot, but the bulk of the story is a mystery regarding the protag’s history) was really easy to figure out. I’ve read almost exactly the same thing in one of my favorite books (but I won’t ruin it by giving spoilers here) and so, at over 700 pages, the resolution there took extra long, I felt.
My car is a death trap for books.
High Noon is one of my favorites! I have lost books. In fact, I lost two books i really want to read, and I’ve searched the house for HOURS this past year, and I still can’t find it.
I hope you find them!
My stupid Barns and Noble is totally slacking lately. I was just in there on Tuesday, looked for Darkest Pleasure and they didn’t have it. So I figured it must not be out yet. Grumble grumble. They didn’t have the new Quinn or Chase on time, either, and only two copies of the newest Ward.
I was going to say check the car, also. My best friend made fun of me for how many I keep in my truck. . . until she was borrowing my truck, got stuck at the Drs office for a long time, and had a nice selection to choose from.
The surefire way to recover your book is to buy another one. Then your lost copy will appear on the top of a stack in an extremely obvious place.
Or else your sister is out to get you.
Could go either way.
I don’t think I could sleep if I had lost a book in the middle of reading it…
Not that it can happen, as I keep the book(s) I’m reading around me no matter where I am, what I’m doing…
Yes, I’m addicted and I don’t need no stinkin’ twelve step program.
I think the trolls under my bed come out late at night and steal my books and various other things like socks and money.
Also, Meljean, you gotta finish High Noon, srsly
I FOUND IT!!
(it was beside my bed)
Hehehe.
I am jealous you have read TDP. I *heart* Reyes. My excitment over Reyes book would only be shadowed by the announcement of Striders book. *slurp.*
:insert witty comment:
I’ve got nothing.
