I think this might be my new favorite (TV) movie.

I’ve always loved The Taming of the Shrew, and this modern version from BBC’s ShakespeaRe-Told series just knocked my socks off (previous favorite was a Shakespeare in the Park production with Raul Julia). Here is the beginning (from YouTube.)

I love Shirley Henderson! Have you ever seen her the BBC verison of Anthony Trollope’s The Way We Live Now? She is excellent in that movie.
Matthew Macfadyen aka Mr. Darcy is in it also. Yum.

I have always loved the story of the Taming of the Shrew and damn! that woman makes a wonderful shrew! I love that actress – she’s perfect for the part.

my god!
the coincidence!
I just watched this 2 days ago. And was floored with the great chemistry between Shirley Henderson and Rufus Sewell. They look amazing together, she’s so tiny and he is such a hunk. Loooooove the elevator scenes.

Watched the whole thing on YouTube, ordered it from netflicks to watch again. No words written. I blame you.

Oh Meljean I watched this on telly when it was on a few years ago and loved it (actually the whole series was awesome, Macbeth and A Midsummer’s Night Dream as well) . The Taming of the Shrew is my favorite Shakespeare play ever since I watched a production with the Royal Shakespeare Company. It was an amazing performance, people were clapping like crazy.
I love Petruchio and I love Kate (Kiss me, Kate awww) even though feminists rage against it, the submission of the wife.

Sorry, I could go on and on.

Shirley Henderson is my favourite actress. She is amazing. She will always be Isobel in Hamish MacBeth for me. She had mad chemistry with Robert Carlyle. Swoon. *sigh*
