I don’t know what to say about the electoral college image except kind of what you said.
That EC map is significantly redder than any other one I’ve seen. I like fivethirtyeight.com’s a lot better.

My husband keeps taunting me as being an ignorant voter because I couldn’t even make it through the entirety of one of the debates.
The pattern was thus: first, I’d attempt to listen calmly and take everything in. Next, I’d hear a statement that would leave me slack-jawed with incredulity, followed by another that would stun me even more. After that were the imprecations at the tv screen. Finally, I’d be vibrating with wordless fury and barely able to restrain myself from deep, primal screaming. For the sake of my sanity, I had to turn away.
I know some people made a drinking game out of it (two sips if Sarah Palin winks at you – who knew that’d practically get you tanked all by itself? – one sip if a candidate decided to weave in part of their stump speech instead of answering a question – a guaranteed winner regardless of party affiliation). I believe those people enjoyed the debates far more than I.
I’m looking forward to November 5th with a combination of hope, dread, and anticipatory relief.
fiveandfour — I have to mute it and read the closed captions. I don’t know why I can handle it all better that way, but I’d never make it through a debate, either.
Kerry Allen — I’m ashamed to say I can’t even remember now where I got the map. I think I pulled it from wikipedia. I don’t think it’s a current EC map, but maybe from the last election?

Crikeys I didn’t know there was a live-action version. I was introduced to the Tick by my BIL who jealously guards his Tick action figures. He has TWO for crying out loud. Anyway, yep, loved the cartoon.
