My backlist suggestion: DEMON NIGHT, because it features a heroine with the most contemporary kinds of issues. After an accident that ruined her singing career (she might have been, oh, driving drunk) Charlie is fighting to rebuild her life … and it hasn’t been easy. Every single step — her job, her apartment, returning to college — is a victory for her, and luckily she has her sister to rely on.

Of course, it all goes to hell when she’s attacked by vampires, she finds out her sister is dating a demon and that her sexy cowboy neighbor has wings … but other than that, Charlie could be any Girl Next Door (and you can read an excerpt here).

I vote and it was a tough choice, but I went with McCarthy and Higgins. I haven’t tried Higgins before, but I love Erin McCarthy!
