Posts on women. Strong women. Real women. And misconceptions, too.
Dave Sim vs Gail Simone (Gail Simone is the current Wonder Woman writer, but that’s only part of the reason why I love her. Responses like this are the other part.)
A Pajiba review of Lipstick Jungle
Should I add Karen’s post, too? (NSFPWDWTTAPRN*)
ETA: The Robin Morgan essay. No matter who you are supporting, this is an amazing piece of writing, and worth reading (and talking about, online or off).

Excuse me while I die of happy.
I might actually warm up to Steve Trevor now.
ETA: Also, I’m still at the Book Binge. Today — I use graphs and charts. No, really. Check it out … and get a chance to win a copy of Demon Night.
In the same year the NYT is carrying articles about how WW has a ongoing female writer for the first time in her 60 year history? Gloria Steinem put her on the front of Ms. magazine as a feminist icon… and you use her for this? I mean, I find Wonder Woman incredibly sexy. And I like cheesecake art; I like erotic art, too. But this? At least with a comic book, with cheesecake, there’s still some power there, because there’s a storyline and a character behind it. But slapping her on the front of a pin-up magazine in a painted suit? Why not just paint a blob of semen across her face and get it over with?
ad. Very, very sad. Even more sad if Warner Bros or DC actually approved the use (I’m not sure Playboy had to obtain permission — the costume is just generic enough, with no breastplate and a few other details changed, that it might not be any kind of infringement.)
Link is NSFW! From Pink Raygun.
So, the new release date is supposedly November 22. I really, really hope so.
(Silently praying that, someday, this book will be monthly again and ON TIME! I think this may be especially good considering that something important might be coming up for Wonder Woman in the future, something like, I dunno… A FREAKING MOVIE DIRECTED BY JOSS WHEDON!)

Ahem.
Yes, DC. It might behoooooooooove you to build up this comic book as something worth investing time and money in. Not a source of frustration, as the date is pushed back again and the release goes bi-monthly and then not even bi-monthly but LATE YET AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!oneelevenoneone
Okay. I feel all better now.
This is not a comment about Paradise Island and the lack of men.
She’s going bi-monthly. Bi-monthly!
She was just relaunched, woot woot huge deal, marketing push, the whole she-bang! …and DC puts her bi-monthly. The writer, apparently, can’t keep up with his deadlines. The celebrity writer and/or artist — who, to be fair, are actually doing a decent job and whose other comics are pretty darn good, too — but SOMEONE CAN’T KEEP UP WITH HIS DEADLINES.
The problem is, WONDER WOMAN is not an independent title. It’s not about the writer. It’s not PROMETHEA, for example. It’s not even ALL-STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN.
It’s a fricking superhero comic book, about one of the BIG EFFING THREE superheroes in the DC Universe…
…and she’s bi-monthly.
Good job, DC. Great way to relaunch the most iconic heroine in comic book history. Great way to get that buzz going. Great way to keep the interest high.
At least JLA is always on time…*blink*
I sure hope that Berkley makes certain to not publish DEMON MOON until…oh (what’s equivalent in the comic book world?) two years after DEMON ANGEL? That’ll keep readers begging for more.
