w00t! The last freaking piece of Alejandro’s character…

…just fell into place. Now I’m not fighting him any more, but it means some rewriting (but not too much, whoo hoo, because the key emotional elements are already there.) This was one of those things that you KNOW is there, lingering in the back of your head regarding motivation, and you KNOW something is missing, but you just can’t put your finger on it (probably because I can’t stick my finger through my skull).

And at first, I was kind of pissed at my brain. I was like: you couldn’t have figured this out BEFORE there was only 10 days left until deadline? Then I realized: much, much better before than after.

Now, time to whip that bad boy into the hero he needs to be.

DEMON DAWN is now…

DEMON FORGED (which you might remember was the original title on the sidebar, before I changed it — it is now changed back.)

Also, don’t forget about THE ITALIAN GOURMET BABY FOOD BARON’S IRONICALLY PREGNANT VIRGIN MISTRESS! Yesterday, Tumperkin posted her powerful Chapter 3; today, Bettie Sharpe exposed her shocking Chapter 4! Mama mia!

Irena is angry, angry, angry.

I haven’t written a character like this before. It’s an interesting balance — because her anger can’t always come out violently and she can’t always be surly, or it would be hard to care about her romance or her story (I think angry heroes have it easier than angry heroines). So it’s shaping a lot of her humor, too.

Anyway, here’s a snippet from DEMON DAWN. Irena’s in Rome, and she’s just been propositioned by a drunk.Â
