Signing at Powell’s, and my day at Odd Shots

I’m at Odd Shots today, talking about Mary Sue and Wal-Mart.

Tonight, I’m going to be at the Cedar Hills Crossing Powell’s, signing Must Love Hellhounds and my backlist. And it’s not just me — there’s a whole list of authors attending, so it should be a great event.

The details:

Er, but I think there are more authors than this that weren’t listed. But, anyway, I will be there, and I’d love to see you!

Celebrate Romance and Borders Signing

I’ll be unplugged all week, so this is an early reminder that I’ll be at the Celebrate Romance convention beginning next Friday afternoon. For those in the area not attending the convention, there is a multi-author signing at the Borders in Beaverton at 6:30pm on Saturday*.

There’s no reason for me to post the DEMON FORGED cover. I just wanted to look at it again.

*I can’t find confirmation of this on the Borders’ events list, or at the convention site, even though it’s been mentioned in the e-mail loops several times. If my info is faulty, I’ll update it. I’ll be there at 6:30 regardless, and if there ends up not being a signing and you show up and say hi, I’ll be happy to spring for tots at the McMenamin’s right next door to the Borders (if there is a signing, I’ll probably head over there afterward, anyway).

w00t!

One of my favorite bloggers, Ciara, just posted a video interview with me. This was taken at the Powell’s signing, and I had dreams of being as awesome and collected as Joanna Bourne was in her RWA interview with Ciara … but, alas. I am totally me. :-D

And I just managed to spill my soda all over my desk, but luckily moved my laptop out of the way in time. w00t! I’m awesome.

A link between magically fertile heroes and TSTL heroines?

You know, the TSTL ones who always forget their cell phones or let the battery die when a serial killer is after them. Apparently, there’s a link between cell phone usage and decreasing sperm quality … so that explains how, after the killer has been caught and the couple firmly ensconced in their HEA epilogue, the heretofore-infertile heroine suddenly becomes pregnant: when the hero realized that she wasn’t dead — just her battery — and then he took her in a fit of relieved lust, his weakling little swimmers become Michael Phelps.

Oh! and this is a reminder that I’ll be at Powell’s in Beaverton tomorrow night — Friday at 7pm. And, since I’ll probably be starving by the time it’s done, McMenamin’s afterward. If you can stand the look of their fries (I always go for the tots there) anyone who wants to is more than welcome to join me.

ETA: I originally wrote “hitherto-infertile,” then wondered if I’d chosen the wrong word, and thought, oh yes, it’s heretofore! So I published the post, then went to go look it up to make ultra-certain I’d chosen the right one … but they are both right.

Signing on Friday, September 19 at the Powell’s Books in Beaverton with a ton of other authors

Although they’ve listed First Blood as the book for the signing, they have my entire backlist there (I saw the stack last week, and went into minor shock at seeing so many of my books in one bookstore. ) Here is the info copied from Powell’s website:

Signings and First Blood

Just to clarify: I will be at RWA, but not at the literacy signing. I will be at the Berkley signing at 3pm on Friday — which is only, I believe, for conference attendees. I’ll update my main page with the conference room number of the signing as soon as I find it.

first blood coverFirst Blood releases in a little over two weeks, on August 5. That night, I’ll be at Borders off Cedar Hills in Beaverton … but not because I’m signing my book. Nope, I’m going to see Teresa Medeiros and Suzanne Enoch, and bother them. Teresa Medeiros I’m just going to fawn over, because I’ve been a fangirl for a way long time (Fairest of Them All started me on the path, and A Breath of Magic sealed the deal). She’s one of those authors that I don’t love love everything they write, but everything is consistently a good read for me, and some are just keepers forever and ever (especially because she was writing paranormal/historicals back when they were hard, hard, hard to find.) And with Enoch, I really, really want to know when Bram’s book is going to be out.

First Blood features Susan Sizemore, Erin McCarthy, and Chris Marie Green. After the cut is the second half of Chapter One of “Thicker Than Blood,” my novella. It follows the excerpt that’s up on the book info page. It is my favorite novella so far (although the current one (hellhounds!) might knock it out of first place … we’ll see.)

Date Change – Powell’s Signing
Friday, May 9

I’ll be at the Beaverton Powell’s at 7pm on May 9 (not the 16th, as originally scheduled.) And it’s not just me — check out the other authors who will be there (from Powell’s Events Schedule):

Shirley Karr (Confessions of a Viscount), Stephanie Rowe (He Loves Me, He Loves Me Hot), Lucy Monroe (Three Brides for Three Bad Boys) Alexis Morgan (Redeemed in Darkness), Delle Jacobs (Aphrodite’s Brew), Minnette Meador (Starsight), Megan Clark (Rescue Me), Samantha James (The Seduction of an Unknown Lady), and more.

And, of course, these:

*head goes down again*

*pops back up to say, w00t! Gena! Because THE DARKEST NIGHT was fricking awesome, and as soon as my head comes back up for realz I’ll say more — but for right now, I just wonder why it is crazy tortured alpha men who do insane things to themselves are so fun? I think fans of JR Ward might really enjoy the warriors she’s created and the storyarc being built (there’s romance, but also much more taking place) and also the energy and the fun of it reminds me of Kresley Cole’s IAD series. Gena’s got a three-chapter excerpt up if you’re curious.*

*whispers* but Bam — that means there’s more neck to suck on. Too bad, I guess, that it’s Guardian/Guardian. Maybe Alice should have been a vampire instead of a spider-loving freak?

Nah.

*headdown*

Pictures!

So, I had a signing at Powell’s in Beaverton and it was a lot of fun (for me — I can’t tell you if the same was true for everyone else, or if they were just smiling out of pity *g* And my husband told me I was boring, but he doesn’t count, because he’s not a romance reader) Emily and Marti, the Powell’s booksellers are truly awesome; everything was ready for me. I just had to come in and … whatever it was I did.

This is pretty much what happened: I got there, talked to Emily and Marti, watched my daughter roll around in her princess dress (her birthday was the next day, but once she saw that dress there was no getting her out of it) got in front of a podium, muttered a lot about myself and the Guardians series, about Batman and Wonder Woman, read an excerpt from Demon Moon, muttered a little more, answered a few questions, signed a few books, was certain I was only in there a half-an-hour at most, and walked out of the bookstore … two hours later.

Yes. It’s not ONLY my books that run long. Sigh.

And I have pictures, but because I haven’t gotten permission from anyone else yet, I’m only posting the back of Lilith Saintcrow’s head, and a small audience pic. (I think the turnout was okay? I’m no Christopher Moore, so frankly, I was just happy that one person in the audience wasn’t related to me.) More after the jump:
