Signing @ Beaverton Powell’s on Sunday

The Hunter by Theresa MeyersI’m sorry for the late notice! It’s been kind of a crazy week, so I haven’t been online much.

This is just a reminder for those of you in the Portland area — on Sunday, November 13th at 4:30pm, I’ll be in Beaverton, OR and signing at Powell’s local Authorfest. Directions are here.

If you can’t make it Sunday, remember that I’ll also be at the Cheeky Pages book club meeting at Powell’s on November 18th with Theresa Meyers, whose steampunky-paranormal The Hunter just released last week. I’ve heard that she’s bringing treats of eatin’ kind.

San Diego – Friday, October 14

Mysterious Galaxy bookstore
A heads-up for everyone in the San Diego area! Sylvia Day and I will be signing on Friday night at Mysterious Galaxy bookstore at 7:00 pm. That link will take you to the bookstore’s site, which has directions and general guidelines for the signing.

If you have any questions re: the signing, please feel free to ask them here.

Authors After Dark in Philadelphia – August 11th to 14th

Tomorrow morning I’m flying east to Philadelphia, where I’ll be attending the Authors After Dark (#AADPhilly) conference. On Saturday, August 13th, from 2-4PM, there is a public signing at the Doubletree Hotel. I will be signing, along with these amazing authors.

There is also a Steampunk Ball on Saturday night (9-midnight) in the Ormandy room that is open to the public, but I cannot find the official link for that, either. I’m on the court, though, so I’ll be there and all dressed up. I’m not really a dress-up type of person, but I have these boots, and I kind of love them.

Here’s the description for the Steam Ball:

An extra even open to the steampublic, The Authors After Dark Steamball is a wonderful trip down the gaslit memory lane. With The Olde City Sideshow, a wonderful steampunk burlesque act, Music by DJ KILTBOY, a fantastic reading series and signing from 15 Steampunk authors, Psychics, vendors and a serious treat, the Parlor of Victorian Curiosities, all the way from California!

Tix are 20$ at the door and all attendees will have the opportunities to win some fabulous doorprizes!

Both the signing and the Steam Ball are in the Ormandy room at the Doubletree and the directions are here.

If you’re there and see me in the lobby or wherever, please feel free to stop me and say hi! Unless I’m on my way to a panel, I’ll be more than happy to sit and chat for a bit. That’s the best part of these smaller reader cons — lots of face-to-face time!

My partner-in-self-pubbing-crime Carolyn Crane will also be at the conference, and we’ve planned a special promotion for our Wild & Steamy anthology. We’ve got these handy trading cards with a QR code (are we fancy or what?) that will take you directly to excerpts and a special $0.99 promotional price for AAD (and, ahem, if our fiddling with prices means that everyone will be able to take advantage of that promotion, because it turns out that you can’t just lower the price at one bookseller’s venue — instead, it shows up everywhere…well, it’ll be just like you’re at AAD, even if you aren’t there).

So look for us, hit us up for a fancy card (and my Iron Seas trading cards!), and feel free to chat!

See you there!
Meljean

Signing today, 12-4, at Jan’s Paperbacks in Aloha, OR

I forgot to mention this earlier, sorry! But I’ll be at Jan’s Paperbacks in Aloha, OR on Sunday, August 7 (along with fab authors Kate Douglas, Minnette Meador, Lisa Hendrix, and Kristina McMorris) signing my backlist and giving away romance trading cards. I’d love to see you there!

Releases, signings, and trading cards…

Tomorrow, two of my fellow Odd Shots and awesome friends are having huge releases: Nalini’s Kiss of Snow and Ilona’s Magic Slays. Both are not-to-be-missed…and if you can’t decide which to read first, Nalini has a few suggestions here.

I’ll be at Powell’s tomorrow (Tuesday) night for Ilona and Gordon’s signing with Lili Saintcrow and Devon Monk, and I’ll be picking up a few signed copies to give away — stay tuned for those details.

Finally, I’m sending four of these pretties to the printer this week:

Kitsune did an amazing, amazing job on all of them, and after RWA (early July) I’ll put up a page up showing the complete set, as well as details on how to receive yours.

Signing at Beaverton Powell’s Friday @7pm

powell's logoOn Friday the 17th, I’ll be at Powell’s at Cedar Hill’s Crossing (driving directions here) annual Rose City Romance author signing with copies of everything but The Iron Duke (but I will have free samplers to give away.) The signing begins at 7pm and ends when the doors close/everyone leaves.

Usually the *leaving* part involves going to get food around 9pm. If you’re there late and you want to hang out at McMenamin’s and grab tots and a drink or something, I’m all for that.

From Powell’s Calendar, authors attending include:

Margaret Mallory
Delilah Marvelle
Jessa Slade

I’m at Odd Shots today, talking about Mary Sue and Wal-Mart.

Tonight, I’m going to be at the Cedar Hills Crossing Powell’s, signing Must Love Hellhounds and my backlist. And it’s not just me — there’s a whole list of authors attending, so it should be a great event.

Er, but I think there are more authors than this that weren’t listed. But, anyway, I will be there, and I’d love to see you!

Celebrate Romance and Borders Signing

I’ll be unplugged all week, so this is an early reminder that I’ll be at the Celebrate Romance convention beginning next Friday afternoon. For those in the area not attending the convention, there is a multi-author signing at the Borders in Beaverton at 6:30pm on Saturday*.

There’s no reason for me to post the DEMON FORGED cover. I just wanted to look at it again.

*I can’t find confirmation of this on the Borders’ events list, or at the convention site, even though it’s been mentioned in the e-mail loops several times. If my info is faulty, I’ll update it. I’ll be there at 6:30 regardless, and if there ends up not being a signing and you show up and say hi, I’ll be happy to spring for tots at the McMenamin’s right next door to the Borders (if there is a signing, I’ll probably head over there afterward, anyway).

w00t!

One of my favorite bloggers, Ciara, just posted a video interview with me. This was taken at the Powell’s signing, and I had dreams of being as awesome and collected as Joanna Bourne was in her RWA interview with Ciara … but, alas. I am totally me. :-D

And I just managed to spill my soda all over my desk, but luckily moved my laptop out of the way in time. w00t! I’m awesome.

A link between magically fertile heroes and TSTL heroines?

You know, the TSTL ones who always forget their cell phones or let the battery die when a serial killer is after them. Apparently, there’s a link between cell phone usage and decreasing sperm quality … so that explains how, after the killer has been caught and the couple firmly ensconced in their HEA epilogue, the heretofore-infertile heroine suddenly becomes pregnant: when the hero realized that she wasn’t dead — just her battery — and then he took her in a fit of relieved lust, his weakling little swimmers become Michael Phelps.

Oh! and this is a reminder that I’ll be at Powell’s in Beaverton tomorrow night — Friday at 7pm. And, since I’ll probably be starving by the time it’s done, McMenamin’s afterward. If you can stand the look of their fries (I always go for the tots there) anyone who wants to is more than welcome to join me.

ETA: I originally wrote “hitherto-infertile,” then wondered if I’d chosen the wrong word, and thought, oh yes, it’s heretofore! So I published the post, then went to go look it up to make ultra-certain I’d chosen the right one … but they are both right.
