The original orders refer to angels and those beings who were transformed from angels into other creatures. One characteristic they all share is a susceptibility to hellhound venom, which paralyzes them. They all can speak the Old Language, also known as the demon’s language. Not every demon or nosferatu knows how to read or use the demon symbols that correspond to that language, however.

Angels

Beings of light, the angels were created to serve Heaven. Their powers are great, but they cannot hide all that they are. The seraphim are warrior angels.

We haven’t seen an angel yet in this series. We have only heard of them.

Demons

Demons were angels who rebelled against Heaven and were transformed. Incredibly strong and fast, they do not sleep or eat. They can shape-shift (they cannot take animal forms). In a demon’s natural form, it is genderless, has skin made of red scales, leathery wings, and cloven feet. Black horns curl back from its forehead. Demons reside in Hell, but can travel to Earth through the Gates.

Demons prefer to surround themselves with luxury and power. They do not have a sexual drive and cannot experience arousal, although they can perform the sexual act while in human form.

Psychic Abilities: If someone does not have psychic shields, a demon can read his emotions. A demon can receive projected images, but not articulated thoughts. Some demons, granted the ability by Lucifer, can influence human dreams. They have a psychic storage space known as a hoard (a.k.a. cache, hammerspace) that can hold anything that isn’t alive and that they can wrap their mind around.

Strength: Except for Lucifer and Belial, demons are weaker than angels, grigori, and the nephilim. They have equal strength to an experienced Guardian or a nosferatu. Vampires are significantly weaker than demons.

Nosferatu

Nosferatu were angels who refused to take sides in The First Battle, but waited to see who the victor would be. They were transformed and bound to Earth. Nosferatu can be male or female, but few female nosferatu remain. They cannot shape-shift except to form their wings, which are pale and membranous. Nosferatu are muscular and typically stand about six-and-a-half to seven feet tall. Hairless, they have pale skin, red lips, pointed ears, and long fangs.

Nosferatu do not have to follow the Rules.

Their curse: Nosferatu suffer from bloodlust. Although they do not need to feed, they constantly crave blood, and sexual need accompanies the craving. Nosferatu despise that sexual need, and often rip apart anyone they feed from so that they don’t copulate with them. They cannot remain awake past sunrise, and the touch of the sun will burn (and quickly destroy) a nosferatu.

A human drained of blood can drink nosferatu blood and be transformed into a vampire. The nosferatu hate vampires; they regard vampires as a corruption of their blood.

Psychic abilities: When they are not drinking blood, their psychic abilities are similar to a demon’s. They can sense emotions if the other person has no psychic shields, and they can receive projected images. While drinking blood, however, psychic shields are useless. Nosferatu can hear thoughts through the blood; they can force their victim to sleep. Through the blood, they can search the memories of their victim. They have a psychic storage space known as a hoard (a.k.a. cache, hammerspace) that can hold anything that isn’t alive and that they can wrap their mind around.

Strength: Nosferatu are weaker than angels, grigori, and the nephilim. They have equal strength to a experienced Guardian or a demon. Vampires are significantly weaker than nosferatu.
