Update! Kelli (@Oddiophile) sent an excerpt of the music. Do you recognize this piece?
A reader wrote to me:
Loving the audiobook version of Iron Duke, and wondering about the music clip at the beginning. Well, more than wondering, as I have been searching databases of 17th century dance music to find it. What is it?
I couldn’t answer because a) I have never listened to the audiobook, and b) I probably wouldn’t have recognized it anyway. But I know there are more music-savvy people out there than me, and hopefully one of them recognized it. She went on to add that:
The music is a string ensemble playing a vigorous dance tune.
I’ll be sending an e-mail tomorrow to my editor, in hopes that she can pass it on to the audiobook director, but if anyone recognizes the piece, perhaps we can get an answer more quickly.
Unfortunately, the excerpt at Audible goes straight into the narration, so I can’t link to an example for those of you who don’t have an audiobook copy.
(Or, if you have the audiobook and know how to create a short excerpt of the music, that would be super-awesome.)
Does anyone remember it?
