A Jo Beverley Glom — Recommendations?
I really, really enjoyed FORBIDDEN MAGIC (even though, okay, at one point I was practically screaming “why won’t you just TELL HIM ABOUT THE STATUE???!!!!”) but the characters were fun and interesting, and that’s really what I read for.
According to her website, she has two primary series of books: a Company of Rogues (regency) or the Mallorens (Georgian). According to AAR, they’ve all ranged in the high-Cs to As, so there don’t seem to be any real duds.
I know I’ve read a couple of these (I recognize the covers and, vaguely, the storylines) but I haven’t picked up any of Beverley’s books for years and years (my tastes have changed since then, so I’m not surprised she might appeal to me now when she might not have set me on fire before) so I’m not sure where to start, if I need to go in order, or if there is a marked difference in her Regency-set books and her Georgian-set books.
Any recommendations? Does it matter that I read them in order? I don’t really have time to read her whole backlist, I guess, so are there any gems out there that you loved?
