Author Sightings (and win Silver Borne!)
It used to be, I never went to book signings. That’s changed in recent years, for some obvious reasons — like, I have to sign books — and some not-so-obvious ones, like not just meeting up with an author, but with the fantastic community of readers that always show up at local signings.
There’s the fan aspect, of course, but I think it’s a lot like the internet: when you gush, it’s just easier to be around a hundred other people gushing with you.
Then you get to come away with the keepsakes — either autographed books, comics, boobs, or (as was my case after my first signing … and my last one, too) the terrifying recollection of every dorky thing that came out of your mouth.
So the last singing that I attended was Patricia Briggs’s signing here in Portland (w/Ilona & Gordon!) and I came away with an awesome keepsake that I’m not going to keep: a signed copy of Silver Borne, her latest release in the Mercy Thompson series. And now, you can have it!
Just leave a comment by Thursday, Apr 22 at midnight, and answer: Have you been to a signing? Would you go to one? Would it be for the autograph, to meet with the author, or to hang out with like-minded readers?
