Movies and TV
I'm made happy so easily
Via SF Universe, it’s a poster for Terminator: Salvation Has anyone been watching the Chronicles on TV? It’s been hit and miss, I think … but overall pretty hit for me. After the disappointment of a few other shows (Fringe, sigh, and Eleventh Hour) it’s one that I’m still making a point to either watch […]
For my sister Jennifer and other Portlanders…
The Ramblin’ Rod Show, which was a staple of my childhood: I always wanted to go on this. My older sister did (my dad also said that Ramblin’ Rod was kind of a jerk.) He had a lot of pins on his jacket; I thought that was cool when I was a kid. Now I […]
I wish these were out now.
ETA: Oops, I forgot this one: Max Payne Dead Snow (I read about this on Pajiba this weekend. Two words: Nazi zombies. (All it needs is Wonder Woman and this would be the best movie ever.)) Synechdoche, New York Watchmen (but this is still having legal troubles, I think. Who knows if it will be […]
Sadly, this is probably one of the reasons I'm writing romance today.
***CHEESY SCENE ALERT!*** I have to say, though — I absolutely LOVED these guys. ***GOO ALERT!*** (If you’re wondering what these are but don’t want to play them, they are scenes from the 80’s barbarian-fest, BEASTMASTER. I hearted Marc Singer like crazy.) (Also, this is all katiebabs and Twitter’s fault.)
"The Closer" tv show question (spoilers)
The last episode, the one with the Tijuana drug cartel storyline — did I completely misread the ending, or did Brenda actually let the guy go into the jail using the other dude’s name, knowing that he’d be killed … and that he was killed? Or did I miss a line somewhere that said they […]
My love for Rufus Sewell
Dark City is easily one of my top five movies. More recently, my love continued with The Taming of the Shrew. But I’m not yet feeling the love for The Eleventh Hour, which premiers this fall. Although, who am I kidding, right? I know I’ll check it out. Maybe it’ll be a little more exciting […]

A sequel to Titanic
I can’t believe this has been out for two years and I’ve never seen it before. And, yeah, it goes on for too long … but I’m still giggling. Okay, back to work for me.
I think this might be my new favorite (TV) movie.
I’ve always loved The Taming of the Shrew, and this modern version from BBC’s ShakespeaRe-Told series just knocked my socks off (previous favorite was a Shakespeare in the Park production with Raul Julia). Here is the beginning (from YouTube.)
I Want To Believe
Despite all of the terrible reviews I’ve been seeing, I want to believe, I want to believe, I want to believe. Also, has Scully ever looked better? When I grow up, I’m going to be her.
Also…
Holy crap! It’s the Watchmen teaser trailer! I’m speechless. My heart is beating fast. Also Dr. Horrible Act III is up. And … Yeah, I loved the end. Also The teaser for Terminator: Salvation. Which I thought was awesome until I saw the Watchmen trailer. I didn’t realize Thea at the Book Smugglers had linked […]
The Evil Plan is …
revealed? Joss Whedon (kind of) explains what Dr. Horrible is all about. I’m there, anyway, just because: NPH, Nathan Fillion, Joss Whedon. They have lots of graphics to put up so that the word gets out. I like this one because you can see NF’s nip. I’ll put it up on the sidebar as soon […]
Wanted: Saw it. Loved it.
So, I went and saw Wanted, and thought it was great. Pretty much everything the reviewer at Pajiba said (foul language lurks at this link, so don’t click if you don’t want to read it), I’d agree with. It’s also one of those movies where you have to suspend your disbelief (really suspend it), or […]
I'm dialing back the caffeine intake…
…and am oh-so-tired. Whoa. Recap of the last couple of days: nephew, born; daughter’s birthday party, finished (next year I might do something like Chuck E. Cheese’s, even though I HATE that place, because, man … I am not an organized arranger-party person. Luckily, the weather turned out nice (after two weeks of freaking cold, […]
On horror and happy endings
WARNING: This post contains spoilers about the endings of several horror movies/graphic novels/books. A review at the Book Smugglers reminded me that I had this post in my drafts. I’ve been thinking about horror and happy endings since I read the two widely different reviews of the movie THE STRANGERS at Pajiba and Roger Ebert. […]
