So, there’s going to be a Wonder Woman TV show…
…and I’m pretty terrified.
(click here for a spoilery review of the initial script by Sue from DC Women Kicking Ass’s awesome blog.)
It’s a show that I’d probably like if they didn’t call it “Wonder Woman.” Sigh. I guess that is the price of being a fan.
It might not end up being terrible, I know. Scripts go through changes. The right cast can make a huge difference. So can the tone that the show takes. So we’ll see what happens … but I have a feeling that the week after the pilot is shown, my post here at Odd Shots will consist of me sitting in the corner, weeping.
On the other hand, I’ll look great doing it, because I’ll be wearing MAC’s Wonder Woman makeup line (Music Warning! But click that link, seriously. It’s fun.)
Do you have a fictional favorite who you’d love to see on the big or small screen, but would be terrified that they’d get it wrong? One for me would be Kate Daniels. That series would make a completely awesome weekly show, but if they didn’t portray Kate’s character right … it just wouldn’t be the same.
I think that’s the thing about adaptations — it doesn’t matter if some things change (and some things always have to change). But there are always a few key elements that have to be just right, and if they aren’t … you wonder why they gave it the same name.
In your favorite series or book, what would be the one thing that had to stay the same? And is there anything that you could get rid of or change without missing it?
