The Upcoming Movie Season
It started a little early this year with Thor (who has seen it? Verdicts?) and is full of my favorite types of movies — action, adventure, science fiction and fantasy. Some look awesome, and some look awesomely bad (which makes them worth watching, sometimes.)
Green Lantern – Okay, I’m not excited. I love DC Comics, and I love GL (especially when they are Kyle and John instead of Hal), but the CGI looks really, really bad to me. And whenever I see Ryan Reynolds in a movie … well, I just see Ryan Reynolds.
I’m actually looking forward to the upcoming Emerald Knights animated release more than the feature film.
Then there’s X-Men: First Class. Just, sigh.
Harry Potter — I didn’t think I’d be glad that they split this into two movies, but I really am.
Pirates of the Caribbean 4 – Okay, even for Johnny Depp and the fun that is Jack Sparrow, I just can’t imagine spending the price of a movie ticket on this. Maybe a rental later.
Super 8 – I only just saw a trailer for this recently, and I’m such a sucker for movies of this type … and I don’t even know what it is. Maybe because it has a Goonies vibe? Who knows.
Conan: The Barbarian – Oh, I should be totally ashamed, but I’m so going to see this.
Priest – I won’t see this in the theater unless it runs longer than I think it will, and I’m really not sure about the casting. Still, I know I’ll eventually see it.
(Dumb Meljean moment – about a year ago, when I heard someone was making this movie, I thought the adaptation was the Korean film “Thirst,” because I picked up “priest” and “vampires” out of it, and thought they changed the title for some other reason. Of course it wasn’t the same movie, but I liked that one quite a bit.)
Captain America – I’m looking forward to it more than X-Men or GL, at least.
Cowboys & Aliens – Ha! They just needed to say the title, and I’m so there.
So, which movies are you guys waiting for? Which ones won’t you bother with … and which movies are you hoping won’t be complete crap?
