Things I can't wait for.
The Frog Prince. I love Disney movies. And isn’t it about damn time?
To take my father-in-law back to the airport.
For my daughter to start kindergarten (a year and a half away, *sob*) so I have more writing time during the day, so that when an idea I’ve been playing with about a steampunky-romance finally coalesces, and I end up with ten pages of notes and a fully realized image of the world it’s in (urgh, instead of ten pages on the WIP as I should have done yesterday), I don’t have to stick them somewhere and wait until I can produce at least another book per year (oh yeah, and have good sales) before I can think of proposing something like that.
Aside: Speaking of production, spyscribbler has a post on prolific writing, and how it doesn’t have to mean a lack of quality. Great questions at the end, too. I’m one of those writers who edits as she goes along, so I don’t have a ton of things to revise at the line level (I tried to do Fast Drafting, which meant I turned off my inner editor … and failed miserably.) Right now, the primary hindrance to my production is just time — and a three-year-old. I’m not unhappy with my production at this stage, because 2 books + novella a year isn’t bad — but I also wish I was producing another book per year.
Buffy, Season 8. Out this week.
