Things that keep me going…
So, I’m in a hole. I pop out every once in a while to feed my kid and myself and to approve friends on Goodreads and Facebook (I always feel guilty if I leave those for too long) but my feed reader is badly neglected (and so is my hair.)
But there are always things that keep me going, even when I’m in a hole, and no matter how stinky and despairing of ever finishing that I am.
1) The memory of the gasoline scene from Zoolander.
Noto is one of my favorite comic book artists (and, related, Marjorie Liu on X-23 is one of the few things keeping from going into a different type of despair, especially since I haven’t been happy with the other X-books in a while, and the reboot of DC… I’m skeered. But Marjorie and Phil? Oh, happy yes.)
This makes me happy, too, because I just can’t help myself.
Pretty much everything else he posts is either gorgeous and/or funny.
3) Samurai Jack DVDs
I’ve been hoping these episodes will eventually stream on Netflix so that I can introduce my daughter to the series, but since it seems like they never will, at some point after I finish this book I’m going to reward myself with the DVD set buy the DVD set for my daughter. I miss Samurai Jack.
Okay, I’d add more, but I really need to get back into my hole. So, I’m wondering: What are you doing, and what are you planning to reward yourself with/what do you use to lift yourself up when you need it?
